If you are a fan of Warcraft 3, then you will be excited for the upcoming title “Warcraft 3: Reforged”. It was announced at Blizzcon 2018 and will be released some time in 2019. Much like the remastered StarCraft, Warcraft 3: Reforged will have new art and animations. If you’re wondering if the remastered version is only for Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos, it’s not and it will include everyone’s favorite expansion Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne. Although this game is a remake of the previous title, I wonder if it feels like a new game entirely. Otherwise, I would have hoped that they would have worked on a new game that could have been Warcraft 4 instead. It is now available for pre-order in the Blizzard stores starting at 30$ USD for the Standard Edition and 40$ USD for Spoils of War Edition.
At a glance, it may not seem much of an upgrade in terms of graphics and animations until you put the gameplay or picture side by side. You can replay the same campaign as the previous Warcraft 3 titles and hopefully, they may even consider adding in new content to the story.
Warcraft 3: Reforged UI
Classic Warcraft 3 UI:
Comparing the UI’s, aside from the higher resolution with a much cleaner UI for Reforged, they restructured the layout of the attack bar, skill bar and item bar. I think the new UI looks a lot cleaner especially the item bar. Most games nowadays, MOBA games have their items laid out this way and it will cater to the newer player-base.

The structures in the Reforged looks absolutely amazing to me. I really like the touch up they have done and I can only hope it gets better as none of the images or trailers are finalized as of yet.
Preview of some new Units
At first when I saw the new images, I didn’t think it looked much different from how I remembered the game. But after looking at the old images of the models, the differences is significant and the newer models are a million times better than the original. I guess it was because I was so used to all the newer models in games nowadays that I have forgotten how awful the graphics used to be.
My mind was pretty blown at the differences of Mal’Ganis as I was so used to seeing this variation of Mal’Ganis from another known game from Blizzard “Heroes of the Storm”.
For those who decides to get a copy of Warcraft 3: Reforged, you are able to play multiplayer with people that are still using the original titles. Unfortunately, I have yet to see anybody else try a custom game yet in Reforged. But on the bright side, custom games will be supported from the old version to the new version which is pretty neat since that means you could play all your old beloved custom maps such as Gem TD, Uther Party, WinterMaul TD and many others. I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of people started playing the original Dota, Defense of the Ancients. I personally enjoyed it a lot more than Dota 2 and I feel like many could relate.
For anyone that is interested in beta testing, make sure you have Warcraft checked off in the Beta Profile Settings in your Blizzard account management.
Overall, I think this was a good idea for Blizzard and it should have a lot more success than the StarCraft remastered version. Many friends and I often talk about the old times we’ve had on Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne and how much we missed playing RTS games (which has been dying out since all the Battle Royale games).
